Night Out

Billy and I were able to have our first night out without our little Peanut thanks to her Aunt Leslie and Uncle Steven. It was my friend Lesley's wedding in La Jolla so we dropped Journee off on our way to the wedding and were able to enjoy ourselves for a few hours.... well sort of! You know that feeling you get when you leave to go somewhere and you're sure you forgot something??? Well, that was the feeling I had all night long! It was definitely strange to not have her with us, but we knew she was in good hands so that definitely put us at ease.

Where Has the Time Gone??

We cannot believe that our little princess is already 6 weeks old! Where has the time gone? I feel like I was just pregnant yesterday!

We have faced some little challenges in the past weeks, but we are all doing great! I developed an umbilical hernia during pregnancy (I'm wondering if there was anything I did NOT experience with this pregnancy??!!) that I had to have surgery on a week ago. The recovery was a little tricky with a newborn, but Billy and my mom picked up the slack for me and were both wonderful caretakers for Journee. Aside from that, we are still trying to get the little Miss to put some chunk on her body. The biggest challenge thus far has been making sure she is eating enough and gaining the proper amount of weight. I have little chats with her and tell her that it's rare that you'll be told to put on weight so she needs to live it up and take advantage of this!

We see the doctor pretty regularly now just to make sure she is keeping that chunk on her body. Perhaps Journee got so accustomed to going to the doctor's offices while she was in my belly that she figured we should just continue that ritual!.... but that is NOT our plan so we are hoping to break that trend very soon! She did have an upper GI this week and fortunately the results showed that she doesn't have a blockage of any sort. It did show that she has reflux so she now gets rice cereal added to her milk to help with this.

Each day is a new adventure with Journee Rose and it's so fun to see how much she changes from one week to the next!
